Get hot water faster with a circulating pump.Water is getting more precious by the day, but so much of it goes down the drain. Did you know that you can reduce that waste with a hot water circulating pump?

We’re already careful with our water usage and don’t let the water run while brushing our teeth. We buy toilets that use less water to flush. Our showers have flow regulators to use less water. So naturally, it bothers you to turn on the hot tap and let it run…and run…and run before it finally is hot enough to start your dishwasher, fill your sink, or hop in the shower. It’s an unnecessary waste of clean water just going down the drain.

American Standard Plumber.American Standard has launched an incredibly insightful and helpful website over the last couple of years called responsiblebathroom.com. While many homeowners are resistant to purchasing low-flow and reduced flow fixtures because of their past performance issues, industry leaders are now embracing this situation by producing superior fixtures at reasonable cost.

They are, however, calling for a ‘bluer’ planet! [Read more…] about Okay, Are We Supposed To Go Green – Or Blue?

Can Most People Afford Green Living?

April 11, 2012 by Dorothy Skinner 5 Comments

Beautiful flower. In August of 2010, Habitat For Humanity and Whirlpool Corporation teamed up to ask homeowners how they felt about green living. It might not surprise you, but out of 1,092 respondents nationwide, nearly half of those describing themselves as lower income believed living green was affordable, but felt purchasing a green home would not be.

71 percent of high income earners believed that they could both afford to live green and purchase an entirely green home.

City of Plano Offers Conservation Rebate Program

May 4, 2010 by Dorothy Skinner 2 Comments

City of Plano residents, as of March 1, 2010 a new water conservation rebate program has gone into effect for homeowners in good standing with their water utility account. To meet the new requirements, items eligible for rebate must be purchased inside the City of Plano. This program is great for homeowners with rental properties as well, as long as that address is also in good standing. Commercial buildings are not eligible at this time

The City of Plano reserves the right to terminate or modify the water conservation rebate program at any time. For more information, go directly to the City of Plano Web site at this link and check this out for yourself. There is so much more to read on this subject, from rain barrels to high efficiency toilets.

As always, Gary’s Quality Plumbing is happy to install your new fixtures in compliance with the incentive. When we all do our part, we take one step closer to living responsible lifestyles.

How Do You Know If Tankless Hot Water Heaters Are For You?

You may have noticed the age of your water heater the last time stored your Christmas items in your attic or cleaned out your garage. If your water heater is over ten years old, especially if it is located in an attic or somewhere that water from a burst water heater could cause significant damage, you might want to consider replacing it even if it is not leaking at the present time. Remember that things usually go wrong at the worst possible time, so be pro-active.  [Read more…] about Are Tankless Hot Water Heaters For You?
