Does anybody know of a handyman in the Plano, TX area who is trustworthy and reasonably priced (someone skilled and cheap)? I see this question pop up on my Nextdoor app again and again.

I appreciate the Handyman – really, I do. As long as they are not doing jobs that belong to licensed, insured tradesmen who have been schooled for years and are professionals in their field.

I’ll give you a for instance: The reason licensed, insured plumbers are, and have been, considered to protect the health of the nation is because they really do that. They protect the health of the nation!

Licensed plumber or handyman?

Permits are required to protect the homeowner from substandard installation practices and potential safety hazards. If your plumber is not taking out a permit for your job, you have no way of knowing if your work is done to code and in compliance with Federal and State guidelines. If your plumber is skipping this very important and required step in their work, it should be a red flag to homeowners to question what else they are failing to do and where else they are cutting corners.

A beautiful large tile shower with brass fittings might be part of your kitchen and bathroom makeover.Who doesn’t want a kitchen and bathroom makeover? I mean, we all have a natural desire to upgrade our bathroom and kitchen fixtures from time to time, especially when the manufacturers are designing and producing such beautiful and functional items. Without change, our homes begin to look dated and out of style. This time of the year especially when we are thinking of the upcoming holidays – still in the distant future – but hey, we need time to get all this done, right? All of our guests see the kitchen and bathrooms.

We can do this upgrade on a large or small budget. But remember to consider the entire job.

A problem we encounter is that once we have purchased our new fixtures, we expect to find a reputable, qualified plumbing company to install our purchase – and by the way, we don’t want to spend an arm and a leg on the install.
