Oh oh – A Controversy about How to Use a Garbage Disposal

December 6, 2018 by Dorothy Skinner Leave a Comment

Coconut Oil, Garbage Disposals, and Drain Lines Don't Mix Well.Have you noticed it too?

My last post about how to use a garbage disposal suggested running lots of cold water after use to help prevent drains from clogging up.

If you check several different sources you will get several different opinions. We had different opinions from our own plumbers. They asked would you prefer your clog close to the sink – or further down the line?

2 Ways To Keep Your Drains Healthy with Holiday Guests

November 21, 2018 by Dorothy Skinner Leave a Comment

Happy Thanksgiving from Gary's Quality Plumbing.TWO THINGS we are thinking about today. The holiday season is here. I know that it’s coming earlier every year, right?

  1. Preparation. Company’s coming and we want to make sure that everything is up and running properly. By “running” I mean that your drains aren’t going to back up and cause a mess and embarrassment. Check to see if toilets are flushing correctly and if your sinks, shower or tub drains seem a little sluggish. Before the doorbell rings and guests arrive you will want to have those things taken care of.
  2. Control. You can avoid most clogged drain problems over the holidays with a few simple steps:

Monsters Use The Bathroom, Too

September 26, 2018 by Jessica Reyes 1 Comment

What to do when drains get out of hand.

Monsters In Your Bathroom: the hair clogged drain.Ever get that terrifying and helpless feeling when water is rising in your sink, shower, or toilet? And you’re afraid the flow won’t stop? A blocked sewer main is serviced through the outdoor sewer clean-out access point.
A plumber unclogs a sewer drain with his plumbing snake and tools.

Why is My Toilet Not Flushing Properly?

September 4, 2014 by Dorothy Skinner 1 Comment

A toilet not fully flushing is a job for a professional plumber. Is your toilet not fully flushing – all the way out to the city sewer? You’ll know if you’re having problems with an incomplete flush; it’ll be sluggish, like there’s not enough force to take it down the drain; or you may notice a slight (or not so slight) sewer smell in your bathroom.

Our Sophisticated Plumbing

August 14, 2013 by Dorothy Skinner Leave a Comment

Company KidsYears ago all you needed to take care of our human waste was to dig a hole in the ground and build a little outhouse over it. A carpenter or handyman could do it.

Things are a little different now with our underground network of sewer pipe under our houses and under our streets.
