When Remodeling Means Moving or Adding Gas Lines

July 19, 2012 by Dorothy Skinner 3 Comments

Blueprints.Have you had your eyes on a new gas cook top, but your kitchen only uses electricity? Adding a gas line is not as difficult as you think, and depending on the other gas-reliant appliances in your home, like the fireplace or water heater, you may already have most of the line in place.

A licensed plumber knows how to track those lines coming into your home and running throughout it. Each time the original gas line takes a new direction, we have to consider the amount of gas getting through the pipe at that point. If it has to travel for a long stretch and go to multiple appliances, the pressure needs to be maintained for each appliance to work properly.

Most homes have at least one gas appliance, usually a fireplace. If not, the gas lines that run through your neighborhood have to be accessed at the meter, and new lines need to be run.

Natural gas is not something you want a handyman working on. Gary’s Quality Plumbing receives ongoing training on best practices, fittings and products to use with the most current information available about natural gas. We also get all the necessary permits and follow all the city codes for your area.

You can trust Gary’s Quality Plumbing with your remodeling projects. Call us with any questions you may have about natural gas and what that means for your home. Leave us your comments below, and don’t forget to sign up to get Ask The Plumber right in your email inbox!

Any one who needs to move or add a gas line ABSOLUTELY needs to get a licensed plumber.

If you don’t you can have a very very large problem on your hands. Remember San Bruno?

Adding or moving gas lines is the work of a licensed plumber. One must not hire any unlicensed plumber for saving just a few bucks. On these things it is not worth to compromise on the quality of work.
