Catch Toilet Leaks The Easy Way

March 1, 2012 by Dorothy Skinner Leave a Comment

Commode.Toilets can leak from the tank to the bowl, causing automatic flushing and hundreds of gallons of wasted water over time. Ignoring it won’t solve the problem, and you may not be sure if it’s the internal hardware or something else.

A simple test can help you determine if you need to call the plumber. Simply drop one drop of food coloring into the the tank in the back of the toilet. Wait for around 15 minutes. If the color ends up in the bowl, you definitely have a wasteful leak.

Make sure you call us right away and get on the schedule. Like a trip to the doctor for an ear infection, it’s inevitable you’ll need professional help! We’ll diagnose and solve your problem in no time.

By the way –  flush immediately after you’ve used the food coloring to avoid any potential staining.

March 12-18th is Fix a Leak Week, designed to keep you informed about wasteful water habits and circumstances that can be easily addressed. Check out their website to learn more ways you can avoid expensive water bills and conserve water at the same time!
