This is one of my favorite times of the year. The intense summer heat is past, our nights are cool, and it feels good to be outdoors again.
It’s also the time of year that we all need to be in home maintenance mode. In fact, with each change of seasons, we should be checking some items off on the home maintenance list because each season brings its own challenges to the Texas homeowner.
A thorough check-up on your home’s plumbing system should be near the top of your fall maintenance list. You’ll want to do this before we get into the rainy, cold season, and before you close everything up for the winter.
Our fall safety inspection includes:
- Checking your gas connections to make sure they’re tight and not leaking.
- Checking your flexible piping to make sure it’s still in good shape
- Checking your appliances for proper combustion
- Checking for carbon monoxide detectors and smoke alarms. We stock replacement units on our trucks in case you don’t already have one installed.

You have laid out the inspection planning completely. But, I would like something to add here. For battery-powered carbon monoxide and smoke detector, do not forget to replace the battery at least once per year.
If you plan to replace those units in your home, please consider to have back up power for ensuring continuous detection.
